Be part of a great team that prepares food for the Banquet Department.  This is a part-time position, working various days Monday through Saturday, 25 to 28 hours per week at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Prepping vegetables, carving meats for our guests, assisting the chefs prepare and plate meals, and help clean the kitchen. Applicants must be neat and clean in appearance, able to communicate in English with employees and the public and able to move 50 pounds.The qualifications for this position usually come from one to two years experience in a professional restaurant or banquet kitchen. This person must be comfortable using a knife in the kitchen and also working with the public.  The starting wage is DOE.   • Generally 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 2:00 noon to 8:00 PM, various days of the week, Monday through Saturday.
  • This person must be available to work in the day time, but will be scheduled to work day shifts or night shifts.


  1. Prepares, plates and serves menu items in a timely manner, from written and verbal orders in a fast, energetic, productive, and efficient manner.
  2. Competent in two stations as described in Skills, Education, and Qualifications.
  3. Understands all recipes in assigned kitchen.
  4. Cleans and restocks refrigerators.
  5. Maintains a hygienic workstation and product.
  6. Adheres to and champions all Board of Health regulations and practices.
  7. Moves food, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  8. Maintains a high energy level and is able to work fast and stand on feet for entire shift.
  9. Safely operates all kitchen equipment.
  10. Regular attendance is required in a timely manner.
  11. Is courteous and hospitable to guests and employees alike at all times.
  12. Keeps area, equipment, work surfaces, and tools clean and sanitized.
  13. Takes responsibility to ensure general work area is clean and safe.
  14. Cleans up after self and at the end of the shift
  15. Always works safely


  1. The qualifications for this position are normally obtained from at least one-year's experience as a cook in a restaurant or catering business.
  2. Has some knowledge of European and American cookery principles.  In Banquet kitchen is competent in salads and entrees, is competent in morning or evening station and in carving stations.
  3. Neat and clean in appearance.
  4. Non-smoker on the job.
  5. Able to move up to 50 pounds in weight.
  6. Able to communicate in English with employees.
  7. Able to hear instructions in a noisy environment.
  8. Able to understand and carry out simultaneous instructions.
  9. Has food handler's permit.
  10. Has manual dexterity to use knives and other kitchen equipment used in food preparation.
  11. Able to read and understand menus and recipes in assigned kitchen.
  12. Owns knives and tools.
  13. High energy level, able to work fast, and stand on feet for entire shift.
